We are excited to announce that the BRCA Group Switzerland went live last week and has been serving its community since then: www.brca-schweiz.ch

At one of our recent info sessions on hereditary ovarian cancer, Janna Ulrich talked about the group’s work. Women who have BRCA1 or 2 mutations, are cancer patients or live with a cancer risk talk differently among one another than they do with specialists. “I never would have wanted to ask a doctor the questions that I asked in the support group,” Ulrich said.

But how can people get involved in the BRCA support group if it doesn’t have a website and relies on word-of-mouth recommendations for sharing information about diagnosis, prevention and emotional stress? Against that backdrop, the Manja Gideon Foundation and the BRCA group joined forces and have now made it easier to access this safe space.

The group is active. It has around 50 members across Switzerland and a WhatsApp chat where members can talk about pretty much anything – people share a lot of personal experiences and there are no taboos.

Online meetings take place once a month. Other group events include a summer cocktail party and a winter mulled wine evening.
