8 May: World Ovarian Cancer Day

The 8th of May is World Ovarian Cancer Day, a global initiative that seeks to educate women on the importance of early detection for successful treatment. While ovarian cancer is a year-round concern for Krebsliga Zuerich and the Manja Gideon Foundation, on 8 May both organisations will be engaging in activities to raise awareness amongst women, their families and care providers, as well as to support those with a cancer diagnosis.

For the third year in a row, Krebsliga Zuerich and the Manja Gideon Foundation will be organising a joint information and education campaign on 8 May to mark World Ovarian Cancer Day. While the public outreach event planned for May has been postponed to this autumn because of the coronavirus, we are providing up-to-date information at our websites and are educating on the topic through various other channels (see links below). We will provide more information as soon as a new date has been set for the public outreach event, which will be devoted to the topics of ‘Hereditary Risk’ and ‘Family Risk-Factor Analysis’.

Uniting women against ovarian cancer

This year we are being supported by the Zurich-based textile label Storyfabrics. In cooperation with the Manja Gideon Foundation, entrepreneur Martina Unternaehrer and four Swiss designers have launched a designer pillow collection titled ‘Leaving Traces’. A limited number of pillows are still available. A portion of sales proceeds will support the Manja Gideon Foundation and its collaboration with Krebsliga Zürich.

How to lend your support

The originals of these covers can be ordered at www.storyfabrics.com/en. For each pillow cover sold, 50 CHF will be donated to MGF.
